Canadian Idol Elimination Round 2
When begin this week with Mavis having a 2-1 lead on the prediction front. Leading off the broadcast I said to Mavis, tough group, boy was I wrong.
Dave Moffat
Mavis: Doesn't have the look (but did Ryan Malcolm), whiney, not a strong enough voice
Pops: I love Stevie, but this isn't even Stevie-lite. He has nice tone but scratched on a couple of notes...pretty good.
Alinka Chambers
Mavis: A little flat - actually a lot flat. Powerful voice though.
Pops: There is no good way to do Black Velvet. Bad vocal performance. Time to find a new destiny.
David Monger
Mavis: Uptight? Good showman - charming. No voice.
Pops: He sings like Adam Sandler. Heavy on the fromage. I didn't like it.
Casey Leblanc
Mavis: Never heard this song before but great, not enough big notes though.
Pops: I like her voice but the performance is really flat - boring. Wild Card Pick.
Josh Palmer
Mavis: He's doing some crappy British band. Unique? Song? Wild Card Pick.
Pops: Don't know the song, interesting rock vibe in there though. Top Ten Pick.
Julie Tellier
Mavis: Strong voice, WTF is this song? Polished. Wild Card Pick.
Pops: Cuts off all of her notes, really good voice though. I just wish she would go for it more. First one who attempted the big note. Wild Card Pick.
Vince Benanati
Mavis: I'll get tired of the breathlessness. Has the power when he uses it. Wild Card Pick.
Pops: Too much breathe-singing. There is a voice in there if he would just play it straight. I think he could nail a Paul Carrack or Phil Collins tune. Top Ten Pick.
Emily Vinette
Mavis: NERVOUS. Moves on - just for chorus notes, some pitchiness but potential. Top Ten Pick. Top Ten Pick.
Pops: Nervous beginning....middle & end. She could sing, I think, but it seems like the nerves constricted her throat. Wild Card Pick.
