Canadian Idol Elimination Round 1

First up I should declare that our satellite feed was a little wonky last night due to an electrical storm and as a result our sound was a little off. That being said here are our comments and predictions.

Matt Humphreys

Pops: I had never heard that song before - he has a nice voice but there was little range in the song.
Mavis: Decent voice but no chance. Some girls will phone in though.

Jenn Beaupre

Pops: Bu-bye. Is there a tune anywhere in what she was singing?
Mavis: Liza Manelli? Air Farce does it better. Nice range - go to broadway

Melody Bonicel

Pops: Boring. Had some big notes that she hit but there is nothing there.
Mavis: Safe but great.

Daryl Brunt

Pops: Good range, nice voice, cute guy. He's going through.
Mavis: Has this guys voice even changed yet? 2 thumbs up for Simba.

Dianelys Hernandez

Pops: Front half of the song was good but the second half faded. Will move into the Wild Card round.
Mavis: Jazzy, nice voice but boring. She'll get voted through though.

Stephane Aubin

Pops: Nice voice but a little flat on the big notes. Enough to move on.
Mavis: He mentioned that he was afraid to sing Georgia on my mind as a kid. He should have taken his childhood advice and avoided this song. He was flat.

Ashley Leitao

Pops: Was she even in tune? No connection for me but will probably move into the Wild Card round.
Mavis: Not as good at the original Poccahontis version - didn't feel it.

Cher Maendel

Pops: She annoys the hell out of me. See-ya
Mavis: To paraphrase Queen - Let Her Go
